To Do list
Patient relevant communication between the nurse, physician, secretary and other health care provided is done through the "To Do list."
To Do list If a patient calls the office and requests a prescription refill, the nurse places a notation in the progress note (Patient requests a refill of ) using the "PGN comment" button located on the Progress note file The nurse then selects the initials of the physician to whom the "To Do" is to be directed (and a "To Do" priority) from the "Add to To Do list" button which is also located at the bottom right of the patient's Progress note file. The nurse then clicks on the "Add to "To Do" list:" button and a new "To Do" item is added to the "To Do list" of the desired physician. Several times a day, each user of ComChart reviews their own "To Do list." By clicking on the "PGN" button that is located on the left side of the "To Do list," the user is taken to the relevant progress note and is shown the pertinent information. The user may then choose to act-up on the information, delete the "To Do," create a new "To Do" for another user or transfer the "To Do" to another user. My office has found the "To Do list" to be a very efficient method of communicating clinically relevant information between members of the health care team. I also use the "To Do list" when filing information into ComChart. For example, when lab results, radiology results or my nurse practitioner's progress notes are automatically filed in ComChart, a new "To Do" is automatically created so that I know I must review the filed information.
